Lisa of Marysville telephoned the Everett Gospel Mission to say that her seven year old son, Ethan, wanted to feed the homeless.
The two of them had been running errands and encountered three homeless men along the way. The 3rd man was holding a sign.
At Ethan’s urging, mom drove to McDonalds and bought 2 cheeseburgers, fries and a bottle of water for the man holding the sign. When they returned to to deliver the food, he was gone.
After driving around and around they found him and Ethan gave the man the cheeseburgers.
This gave Ethan an idea. He asked his mom if they could make sandwiches and take them to the streets to feed the men with signs. Lisa told her son that was a really good idea but thought a slight modification would be good. That is when she telephoned the Everett Gospel Mission.
Arrangements were made for them to deliver a basket of sandwiches, a case of water, and a case of potato chips to the Mission’s Day Center. The men were very happy to receive the sandwiches.
Just before leaving Ethan whispered in his mom’s ear that he wanted the mission to be sure and know that he was doing this act of kindness not for recognition, but to show God’s love.
