Volunteer Spotlight: Becky

Becky hadn’t thought about volunteering at Everett Gospel Mission until a little girl at her church collected over 50 beanie babies that she wanted to donate to the homeless boys and girls at the Mission.

The members of the church decided to make it into a party. They brought food and drinks along with the toys and talked with the residents for a few hours. As they were leaving, Becky knew she wanted to come back. She and some other women from her church decided to come to the Mission regularly.

For two years they came every other month to do crafts. Relationships were built. Lives were changed. Hope was shared.

“I love serving,” Becky says. “Using crafts as a way share the gospel is a great joy.”

After those two years, Becky and the ladies still couldn’t get enough. Now they come once a month.

Becky has plenty to say about how volunteering has impacted her life. “I love the relationships that I have built with several of the women. I was just able to rejoice this last time with one of the ladies who got a job. I love seeing prayers answered.”

If you’ve been thinking about volunteering, we have a place just for you! You’ll be amazed how God will use you.

“I feel so blessed to be a part of what the Lord is doing at EGM,” Becky says. “If I had more time I would volunteer more at EGM.”

Thank you, Becky, and all the ladies who come with you. We look forward to seeing you next month!
