3 ways to help this Christmas

This time of year we have so much going on. It’s such a popular time to volunteer at Everett Gospel Mission, that all our slots for serving Christmas meals are already filled up! So what else can you do to make Christmas brighter for the less fortunate?

Here are just a few ideas to get you started:

  1. Take up a collection among your friends and family.
You can focus on food, hygiene items or clothes. OR, just gather as much of everything as you can! To help in time, bring your collected donations to our Men’s Shelter & Donation Center at 3711 Smith Ave. in Everett.

Food

  • Frozen turkeys
  • Fresh and canned produce
  • Bread and lunch meats
  • Butter, milk, sour cream
  • Sugar, flour, rice, beans
  • Cooking oil, cornmeal, cereal

Full-sized hygiene I=items

  • Shampoo, soap, lotion
  • Q-Tips, mouthwash, toothbrushes
  • Diapers, Pull-ups, Baby wipes

 Warm clothing

  • New socks
  • New or clean, gently used coats
  • Men’s pants, all sizes
  • New or very gently used shoes
  1. Join our Angel Tree Program.
You will be surprised how humble people’s wishes are – and how much they appreciate what you do! You can adopt an individual or a whole family. For more information, contact Jonathan Anderson at janderson@egmission.org or 425.740.2506.

  1. Provide Christmas meals
It’s not too late to join the Feed Hope Here campaign by providing a gift to feed the less fortunate right here in your local community. They’re a bargain at just $2.05 each – about half the cost of cooking Christmas dinner yourself! Provide meals now.

And don’t forget, January is a great time to come down for a tour. I’d love to meet you! You can go here to book your date now.
