It’s cold outside!

It’s the time of year where most of us want to be curled up next to a fireplace, drinking a hot beverage and reading a good book. At least, that’s what I always want to do when the weather turns wet, gray, and bone-chillingly cold.

Most of us are blessed enough to be able to brave the cold, stormy weather by bundling up in winter coats and boots when we need to run to the store, work or school. Or just stay inside our warm home. But over 2,300 of our neighbors aren’t so lucky.

Instead, they face brutal nights, frosty mornings, rain, sleet and freezing temperatures unsheltered.

That’s why the Mission is here. We are here for those who have nowhere else to go. But we offer more than just a night away from the miserable winter weather. We offer hope, healing and the chance to get off the streets for good.

That’s why your gifts are so important.

Right now as temperatures dip, we are seeing a surge of people in need.

So I am asking every single person who cares about those in need to do something to reach out to the homeless during this miserably cold and wet season. Even bringing a coat or a knit cap by would show someone that they are cared for — and help them survive this winter.

We are still struggling to make ends meet after making it through the holidays. Your gift of any amount will go a long way towards making sure we don’t have to turn anyone away.

Friends like you have made it possible for us to make it through the past few winters. I’m praying we can make it though this one with enough food, beds and hot showers so that no one loses their life to the horrific weather this season is bringing.
