You came through for our community!

We’re grateful to share some encouraging news: the appropriation supporting egm’s Smith Campus expansion has made it through Washington’s state budget process and is now awaiting the governor’s signature. The project appears in the supplemental capital budget as Everett Bridge Housing, and Substitute Senate Bill 6003 was passed by both chambers before being delivered to the governor.

This is a meaningful moment for egm, and we don’t want to move past it without saying thank you.

To our community: thank you for showing up.

When we made this advocacy request, it was a first for egm. We didn’t know how our community would respond. You answered with generosity, encouragement, and action. So many of you took time to send emails, share the opportunity with others, and help local leaders understand why this project matters for Snohomish and Island counties. We’re tremendously grateful.

To the legislators who helped carry this request through the budget process: thank you. We’re especially grateful to Representative Mary Fosse, Senator June Robinson, and Representative Julio Cortes for their support and leadership around this request. Their advocacy helped move this project forward at a critical time.

This project matters because the region is facing the loss of shelter capacity connected to the closure of the 2020 shelter, and the Smith Campus expansion is designed to replace that loss while creating additional secure beds and a stronger space for stabilization and recovery.

More than anything, this moment reminds us that we’re not doing this work alone. This outpouring of support from our community has been humbling. It’s a reminder that people across our region care deeply about creating spaces where neighbors can find safety, support, and room to move toward lasting change.

We’re thankful. And we’re hopeful.

There’s still one step ahead as the budget awaits the governor’s signature, but today we wanted to pause and simply say: thank you for standing with egm. Thank you for believing this work matters. Thank you for helping make more space for transformation possible.
