Nathan, aka “Chivo” Hawkins is Everett Gospel Mission’s Director of Advancement, serving as a bridge between our community and the mission. Chivo is an ordained minister who moved to Seattle to plant a church. Instead, God called him to the parachurch where he has served since, continuing in lay leadership with his local church. Chivo has worked with a faith-based tech firm, as an organizational and staffing Coach & Consultant, Church Planting Executive, Regional and Senior Program Director addressing poverty locally and internationally, and local church Pastor. From fundraising to organizational leadership, Chivo’s roles leverage and develop his passion for making connections for collaboration keeping him on the leading edge of learning. As an adoptee, trans-racial adoptive father, and foster parent, Chivo and his family are passionate about expanding the concept of family, especially with people often on the margins. Originally from Minneapolis, Chivo completed his BA in Communications & Spanish at the University of Minnesota while working in sports broadcasting. Chivo got his nickname and start in ministry living in Mexico, followed by seminary in Eastern Tennessee, then church planting in New Orleans. Chivo loves mountaineering, riding his motorcycle, and reading when he’s not watching his four children’s various extracurricular activities. And coffee, always coffee.
