Family Shelter

A Path Out of Homelessness for Families

“The generational cycle of poverty is real. We want to care for the immediate needs of those trapped in poverty, but also help them escape the cycle.” –Randy Haake, egm Board Chair

Families come to egm looking for safety, support, and a way forward.

Some parents arrive carrying the weight of housing instability while doing everything they can to care for their children. Some are single mothers. Some are single fathers. Others are navigating crisis as a family. Whatever brings them here, each parent and child is welcomed with dignity, compassion, and practical care.

Our family shelter provides more than a bed for the night. It offers a safe place to rest, personalized support, and access to resources that help families move toward greater stability. We have space for up to 100 women, men, and children, with access to nutritious meals, clean clothing, spiritual support, addiction recovery, life-skills training, employment help, and more.

At egm, we know families need more than temporary relief. They need safety, encouragement, and consistent support in a season that can feel deeply uncertain. That’s why we walk alongside parents and children with care that honors their dignity and creates room for hope, healing, and a more.
