We've Been Chosen and We're Grateful

We have some exciting news: Thrivent reached out and personally invited Everett Gospel Mission to their Giving Tuesday event this December — and they're offering something remarkable. For one day only — Tuesday, December 1, 2026 — Thrivent will match gifts made through their giving platform from a shared pool of up to $3 million in matching funds. In other words, every dollar you give is matched. Because of this, your generosity goes twice as far.

This is a remarkable opportunity. In fact, it came to us because of the kind of relationship we've built with Thrivent and their members over many years.

"This is what partnership looks like — organizations that share a commitment to their neighbors showing up together when it matters most."

We don't take this for granted — so here's everything you need to know.

About Thrivent: 120 Years of Faith and Generosity

Thrivent is not a typical financial services company. Instead, founded on Lutheran Christian values, it has spent more than a century putting generosity at the heart of how it operates — reinvesting profits back into the people and communities it serves.

120+
years of service and expertise
$170B+
assets under management
2M+
clients served nationwide
10+
years recognized by Ethisphere as a World's Most Ethical Company

A few milestones that tell the story:

  • 1905 — Aid Association for Lutherans (AAL) expands to serve women — 15 years before women were allowed to vote in the U.S.

  • 1917 — Lutheran Brotherhood (LB) is founded with a mission of mutual aid rooted in faith.

  • 1987 — LB launches long-term-care products; AAL becomes the 25th largest life insurance organization in the U.S.

  • 1995 — AAL mutual funds hit $2 billion in assets, far exceeding the goal of $400 million.

  • 2002 — AAL and Lutheran Brotherhood merge to form Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.

  • Today — Thrivent serves over two million clients with more than $170 billion in assets under management, and holds superior financial health ratings from Moody's and S&P.

"Thrivent serves all Christians and offers investment products for all people. We reinvest our profits back into the people and communities we serve."

As a result, this is an organization whose generosity is built into its DNA — and we are honored to be part of it.

Giving Tuesday, December 1: How the Matching Works

Giving Tuesday is the single biggest day of generosity in the country — and this year, Thrivent is making it even more powerful for organizations like ours. Here is how it works.

  • When: Tuesday, December 1, 2026 — midnight to 11:59 p.m. in the donor's time zone
  • How it works: Thrivent has set aside a shared pool of up to $3 million in grant funds. Every eligible donation made through their platform on December 1 receives a match from that pool.
  • Who can give: Anyone — you do not need to be a Thrivent member or client to donate
  • Transaction fees: Thrivent covers 100% of transaction fees, so every dollar you give goes directly to EGM

"For one day only, Thrivent will match donations made through our giving platform — helping your generosity go further."

The campaign runs one day only. Donations must be made through Thrivent's giving platform on December 1 to be eligible for the match. Don't wait.

Our Goal: $25,400 — The Warmth of Christmas for Our Neighbors

This Giving Tuesday, we're raising funds for one specific, tangible thing: Christmas gift cards for the families and individuals staying in our shelters.

Our neighbors are not statistics. They are parents who want to give their children something special. Single women who have known hardship also deserve a moment of joy. Above all, these are people — and we want this Christmas to feel like it.

Here's what your gift makes possible:

Shelter People Served Gift Card Total Needed
Family Shelter
(parents, children & single women)
104 people $150 per person $15,600
Other EGM Shelters 98 people $100 per person $9,800
Total Goal 202 neighbors $25,400

"Our neighbors are treated the same way we would want our own family treated."

A $150 gift card lets a parent walk into a store and pick out something their child will love. Similarly, a $100 card gives someone a sense of agency — a choice — that dignity so often requires.

Furthermore, every dollar raised on December 1 will be matched by Thrivent's giving pool. Your $50 becomes more. Even your $25 goes further than ever before. This is the moment to give.

How to Give on December 1

Giving is simple — and because Thrivent covers all fees, it's also more powerful than ever.

  1. Visit our Thrivent giving page on December 1 — the link is below and in the button at the bottom of this page.
  2. Make your gift in any amount. Anyone can give — no Thrivent membership required.
  3. Thrivent covers 100% of transaction fees, so every dollar reaches our neighbors directly.
  4. Your donation is matched by Thrivent's $3 million giving pool — for one day only.

Share this page with someone who cares about our community. Because the more people who give on December 1, the more our neighbors benefit from the matching pool.
