Darline’s Story

Thanks to you, Darline feels at home this holiday.

Darline’s journey hasn’t been easy.

Before coming to Everett Gospel Mission, she spent years battling addiction and homelessness, often sleeping in her car or on sidewalks, wondering how she would survive.

“I was really dope sick. It was super rainy and cold, and I had nowhere to go. Nobody would open their doors for me. I was alone,” she recalls.

It was in that desperate moment that Darline reached out to God.

“I need out of this life … God, if You’re there, help me.” Soon after, social workers and police helped her access treatment—a turning point in her life.

Thanks to You, Darline Can Breathe Again

Now, Darline is two years clean and raising her young son, Syvahn.

At EGM she found far more than shelter. “I felt like it was safe … like I could breathe,” she says.

At the Mission, Darline not only has her basic needs met, but she also experiences a sense of community and family.

You Make Christmas Feel Like Home

“We’ve spent both Thanksgiving and Christmas here,” says Darline. “It’s really nice … with the decorations it feels homey. I was so grateful when we got gifts because I couldn’t afford anything for my son.”

Darline also treasures the small, creative moments with other families.

“I would get all the kids together, and we made Christmas cards or decorations from pasta and cereal and glue. We even planted a garden together,” she says. “It’s like a family in here.”

Christmas Blessings Abound—Thanks to YOU!

Darline’s faith continues to guide her. “If it wasn’t for God, I don’t think I would be alive today,” Darline says. The stability, safety and support at EGM have given her the chance to grow, recover and hope for the future.

Your gifts help provide meals, shelter and hope, giving families like Darline’s a true Christmas miracle. Thank you!
