The Search
A national search with a professional firm to find the right person for this work — $25,000.
The lights at the Mission are on. Dinner is served. Beds are made. Somewhere down the hall, a conversation is happening that neither person expected — the slow, unglamorous beginning of a changed life.
"Every meal you've given has been a footing for relationship — the open door, the reason someone stayed long enough to be known. Now we're making room to serve more people and deepen those relationships."
What your giving did last year (FY 26)
Relational support costs $7.35 per person per day — $1,910.63 a year. One full day of safe rest across our campus: $2,240.59. These aren't estimates; they're straight from our ledger, because we want you to know exactly what your partnership makes possible.
For more than 60 years, EGM has offered our neighbors meals, shelter, and support. As we grow, we must also invest in the people who provide that care.
After 24 years as EGM's CEO, Sylvia retired, took a well-deserved sabbatical, and came back as our Chief Values Officer — leading the Program team and pouring into training and staff development. As Sylvia shifts her focus entirely to training, we're searching for our next Chief Program Officer to work alongside her, learning directly from her while preparing to lead our programs and support our staff.
We want this leader to work alongside Sylvia before she shifts her focus entirely to training. That overlap would provide time to learn from her experience, build relationships with our team, and carry her work forward.
"Our neighbors need more than a bed. They need a team trained, led, and supported to walk alongside them. This role is about strengthening that team. We keep showing up because Christ holds on first. And we're preparing not just for tonight's need, but for the work we believe God is calling us toward."
— John Hull · CEO, Everett Gospel Mission
This is a one-time ask. We're raising $150,000 to fund the search, onboarding, first year salary, and benefits for our next Chief Program Officer — the person who will design our programs, equip our team, and carry Sylvia's work forward.
A national search with a professional firm to find the right person for this work — $25,000.
Onboarding and time to learn and work alongside Sylvia before she fully shifts to training — $5,000.
One year salary ($90,000) and benefits ($30,000) for our new Chief Program Officer — the foundation for decades of stronger care.
When Sylvia steps back from direct program leadership, she'll free up headcount already allocated in our budget — which will cover the cost of our new Chief Program Officer going forward. This partnership funds the beginning.
Your gift — whatever size — sustains the team, the relationships, and the daily work of care that makes transformation possible. Thank you for being part of this.

When Larkey came back to the Mission in 2012 — for what would be the last time — she asked for two things: "I just need a job and a little bit of rest." What she actually needed was to survive. Her health had deteriorated so severely that doctors discovered she was missing more than half her blood supply.
Sylvia, our CEO at the time, told her something no one else had: "You need to heal." Not work. Not prove herself. Heal. So that's what Larkey did — with a safe bed, time, and people who refused to rush her. She was given the necessary time to heal before anyone asked her what came next.
Thirteen years clean, Larkey now volunteers right back at the Mission — alongside the same kind of people who once walked with her.
Start a story like Larkey's →"Your gift to the Mission was never a rock dropped in a pond — it's the first ripple. It becomes a bed, which becomes healing, which becomes a woman serving hundreds of others."
— Larkey's story
"Not so much the homelessness and the addiction," Larkey says, "but the healing of it. And how that reverberates out to other people."
That reverberation is you. Whose story will you start this year?
