Meeting a Growing Need
We’re honored to be featured in a recent article by The Everett Herald highlighting an important step forward for our community.
The story shares plans for a major expansion of Everett Gospel Mission—one that will significantly increase our ability to serve neighbors experiencing homelessness across Snohomish County.

Every day, we see firsthand the growing need for safe shelter, compassionate care and a pathway forward.
This expansion will nearly double the number of available beds, increasing capacity to 172 individuals, with additional space available during severe weather events.
For many, the Mission is the first step toward stability—a place to rest, reconnect and begin moving toward lasting change.
As our CEO John Hull shared in the article, the Mission serves as a kind of “first step” where people can stabilize and begin considering what comes next.
That’s what this expansion is all about.
More Than Shelter
This project is not just about adding beds—it’s about creating a space where people are known, supported and treated with dignity.
The expanded facility is designed to include:
- Safe, welcoming spaces for both men and women
- Areas to meet with staff and build relationships
- Practical resources like a small store for essentials
- Creative and community-building spaces
- Thoughtful design to better support individuals with diverse needs
The goal is simple: to create a place that truly serves people well—one that helps move them from crisis toward stability and hope.
A Vision Years in the Making
This moment didn’t happen overnight.
For more than a decade, Everett Gospel Mission has explored ways to expand and better serve the community. In 2024, the opportunity came to acquire neighboring properties—making it possible to reimagine and expand the current campus into one unified, larger facility.
Construction is expected to begin later this year, with a goal of opening expanded space in time to meet critical winter needs.
Powered by Community
This project is only possible because of a strong network of partners—local leaders, community members and generous supporters who believe in what’s possible.
Funding is coming together through a combination of city and county support, state funding and private generosity.
It’s a powerful reminder that real change happens when a community comes together.
Looking Ahead
In an ideal world, shelters wouldn’t be needed. But today, they are—and we have an opportunity to do this work better than ever before.
This expansion represents more than growth.
It represents hope.
It represents partnership.
And it represents a commitment to walking alongside people as they move toward a place to call home.
